He Crawls!

Walter started crawling last week. I was the last to see it. The daycare teachers saw it first. Andrew and the kids saw it next. I finally got to see it last night. (There is a bit of mommy guilt in that.)

Babies' first efforts at crawling are usually funny. Walter's were no exception. At first he looked gimpy because he has learned to crawl from sitting versus from playing on his belly. Now he's finally figured out to unfold his crossed legs, which is what has finally given him the propulsion he needed. This video, taken last night, actually captures the first time I saw Walter crawl, so it's pretty special to me, even with its crash landing ending.

Oh, man. He's a mover and a shaker now! It's hard when you don't get to be there for the firsts. I have a deal with Grandma that no firsts are to take place at her home. So, if she didn't hear us exclaiming about what Fynn has done lately, she shouldn't either. Yes, we play mind games with ourselves. When that fails, we remind ourselves that we could have been at the store or on a date (it could happen) during the big event.

Ouch, as a child care provider, I never tell the parents that something has happened here first until they say something to me about seeing it. It just doesn't hurt anyone's feeling that way :) Just like Shan, 'hi Shan!'

I do not want to think of Edy crawling in 2 months or so... ugh! Walter, he's perfect at it though!
